SLC Marathon


This morning Matt, Brooklyn and I woke up at 6:30 am to drive to SLC to watch all the marathon runners. Every year we meet at the Lingwall's home, (friends from our old ward) and we (the old ward and us) have a big breakfast and watch all the runners go by. It's so fun to cheer all the runners on and see them accomplish such a hard thing. We really enjoyed it this morning and it was good to see all of our friends. We would love to move back in the ward someday.... soon... we will see. Later on we went to the Gateway to see all the runners make it to the finish line. It's a great sight to see....
I want to share something... each year I get a little emotional watching all the runners go by. Is that normal or not? I don't think it is but why do I get emotional? I think it's because as I watch all the runners, some are running for the first time, some many times and some are walking, some are struggling and some are helping others. It's the fact that they are doing something that is not easy at all and it takes courage, strength and dedication to do. I love watching the dedication of all the people who want to finish the race. I see others who are done, go back and help others who are struggling and help them to the finish line... it's a sweet moment of kindness and encouragement. I compare this experience with our own lives, we all go through life and there are struggles we all go through. But we don't have to go through our struggles alone, we are given words of encouragement along the way, just like those who are cheering on the runners. We are given help along the way, just like those who stopped to help other runners. Right now we all have courage in this life as we go through each day and we have dedicated ourselves to making it to the end... to the finish line.  I know Heavenly Father loves us all and wants us to be happy and help others to make it back home to Him. I am grateful for my tearful moments as I watch the runners... I would hope that others would cheer me along the way and many have.

especially because Daddy took her for a ride on the "Mono" (motorcycle).
She loves the Mono!

ORLANDO BABY!

Orland0 Baby Whoo Baby Whoo!

So I made it here in Orlando! I am here with my Utah Deaf team playing in a basketball tournament. In March we won the regional tournament and so we got invited to play in Orlando for the National Tournament. We are number 3 seed and have a bye in the first round. We play the winner of Rochester and Providence tomorrow at 7:30 pm. I will try to keep you all updated on how we are doing. I wish I had some pictures to post but I don't! Matt and I can't find our darn stinkin tootin camera! So if anyone knows where it is by all means let us know! I think I will call our family the Bailey "lose everything" Family. Seriously we are always losing things and it's not just things like food, or a pencil it's stuff like Matt's wallet, my keys, the CAMERA! So I will see if I can download some pictures from my friend's camera while I am here. Anyways, we are staying at a sweet resort donated to us by one of the player's mother, Claudia, she is the owner of Audio Enhancement, the company Matt used to work for. Brooklyn's Growing Sentences

Brooklyn has been quite the jabber mouth... I wonder where she gets that from? Yep Matt! And Matt got it from his dad! Anyways, I thought I'd post some of her famous jabbers!

Recently Brooklyn fell and bumped her head pretty bad... I know sad huh? I just felt so bad. She now says, "I owie". If we ask her what happened she says, "I bunked a head". Isn't that just so cute!

The other day I asked Brooklyn if she wanted milk and she said no. (I was pretty shocked bcause she never turns down milk!) So I asked her, Why don't you want any milk? She responded as a matter of factly, "Because". I could not believe my eyes (I read lips so of course I am gonna say eyes and not ears... LOL). I had never heard her say that. She has since added, "Because I love you!" after each why question we ask. So innocent!

The other day Brooklyn asked for some cheese so I got her some and she said, "Thanks Mama!" Oh bless her soul....

Matt loves motorbikes and he is so determined that Brooklyn will love riding them as much as he does... Oh boy! Well a couple of weekends ago we were in St. George riding motorbikes and while we were all taking a break, Matt got this brilliant idea to teach Brooklyn how to imitate the sound of motorbikes. She now says, "Mono Bum! Bum!" (Mono- Motorcyle, bum bum- the sound of the motorbikes...) I think we have a new rider here in the near future!

"1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10!" That pretty much says it all.

"A,B,C,O,H,I,J,K,L,M,M,O,P,Q,R,Z! Now I know my A,B,C next time will you sing with me!" She is getting close!

Mac getting Pampered!

Okay, I have been waiting for almost a week for our Mac computer to come back home to us and yet it's still getting pampered by one of Matt's co-workers at Fidelity. The point of this.... It has all the pictures on it for me post on the blog! Needless to say... I would like our Mac to come back home to us.

So while I have no picutres to post I do have a funny story that happened last night. Matt, as many of you now know, works at Fidelity. You'd think that since he graduated from college he would be done with classes, books, studying, quizes and test! Nope! Since he has to get his series.... something.... I can't remember.... He has had classes at work for the pass month and now is studying 4 hours a day at work unless his study time gets cancelled and he is on the phones. If that happens he has to study 4 hours at home to make up for the time lost (although he gets a time and a half for 4 study hours if has to study at home, a big plus!). Anyways, yesterday Matt had been studying for almost 9 hours and it was really late in the night when I suggested he take a snoozer because I noticed smoke was coming out of his ears from his brain being so fried! I told him I would wake him up in 30 mins. I woke him up and he said, "So did you do everybody's hair?" hahahaha I was laughing and asked what? He said it again, "Did you do everybody's hair? Didn't you get the big round brush?" I was laughing so hard and he was like what? I kept laughing and he fell back to sleep. I woke him up again and he said, "Did you hit the refresher button with your browser?" LOL! I said what? He said, "To update your system". You can imagine how hard I was laughing because he was so out of it. I told him all about it this morning and we had a good laugh again! I do appreciate my hubby for working so hard! I know he will do well on his finals in May. I love you Babe! Babe! I got you babe! Babe, I got you babe!

Quick Updates!

Last weekend I returned from Orlando playing in the USADB (USA deaf basketball) tournament. My team took 5th place out of 12 teams and did pretty well. It's a bummer that we lost our first game since that ruined our chances of playing for first but we were able to win our next 3 games and placed 5th! We enjoyed a great time at the resort and the wonderful pool! Island of Adventure was way cool and my favorite ride there was SPIDERMAN! It's amazing how they can make it look like you really are in the middle of all the action. We are all excited to play next year in San Antonio! I am just glad I am still playing ball! I love playing ball and play on Wednesday nights with my former college ball friends. We have such a good time! It helps me not to be so rough and keep up with all the youngsters! 

Our awesome and sweet friends, Matt and Amie! We had a great time with them staying at our home during General Conference weekend! We also enjoyed a late midnight snack of SUSHI! Mmm! If you love sushi go to Showgun Restaurant in downtown SLC on Friday or Saturday night from 11:00 pm to 2:00 am and get half off on everything! Amie is wearing her birthday hat her mom made for her. She was to wear it everywhere she went! Cute Hat!

Brooklyn at the ZOO! She loved all the animals and enjoyed hanging out with Matt and Amie. Thanks guys for watching Brooklyn and treating her like one of your own! We know you want her but she stays with us! :)

A few weeks ago Matt, Brooklyn and I were able visit Matt's Grandparents in Arizona.  My grandparents live here in Salt Lake but we got to visit with them as well. We sure love you all and hope you know we think of you often! 
Great Grannie! We sure miss you! This is Matt's Grandma who lives in Mesa, AZ. We are so blessed to know her and be a part of her family.  We hope you move to Utah someday Grannie!

Great Grandma and Grandpa Bailey in Arizona! It was so good to see you both! These are Matt's grandparents from his dad's side. They also live in Mesa, AZ. We enjoyed a BBQ with all of their children and celebrated Grandma Bailey's birthday!
Great Grandpa Groen! We enjoy making dinner for you! This is Shari's Grandpa and Grandma (below). We enjoy going to their home and making a delicious dinner! We have had salmon and brown sugar chicken that are tantalizing! Shari made her famous peach cobbler and we gobbled that all down! Grandpa wanted the leftovers! We hope you enjoyed it!
Great Grandma Groen, we love to visit with you! What cute smiles you both have! Brooklyn loves to visit with them and of course play with their toys!
